Boys & Girls Clubs of America's national
programs have taken members from the Clubhouse to the White House;
from the games room to the corporate boardroom; from the high
school orchestra to Carnegie Hall.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has a lineup of tested and proven
nationally recognized programs that address today's most pressing
youth issues, teaching young people the skills they need to succeed
in life.
More than 25 national programs are available
in the areas of education, the environment, health, the arts,
careers, alcohol/drug and pregnancy prevention, gang prevention,
leadership development and athletics.
While The Columbia Area Club offers programs
in all core areas, education is our main focus and priority.
Core Program Areas
Five Core Program Areas provide the framework for Boys & Girls
Club. Each Club seeks to provide a diverse program that will attract
and retain boys and girls with a wide variety of interests and
needs. The Club offers program activities in five areas:
Character & Leadership Development
Empowers youth to develop a positive self-image, sustain meaningful
relationships with others and respect their own and others
cultural identities.
Education & Career Development
Enables youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines,
apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology
to achieve success in a career.
Health & Life Skills
Develops in young people positive behaviors that nurture their
own well-being through health and prevention programs, and encourages
them to set personal goals to enable them to live successfully
and self-sufficiently as adults.
The Arts
Enables youth to develop their creativity through knowledge
of the visual & performing arts and crafts.
Sports, Fitness and Recreation
Develops fitness, teamwork and social skills.
